First stop: Nana’s house in North Yorkshire. We met up with lovely friends and we all built a sandcastle
It was Big. It had stairs and tunnels.
Then the sea came in.
Next stop: this little cottage just a stone’s throw from Snape Maltings in Suffolk.
A cat from long ago had helped to make the bricks for the fireplace.
We played in Rendlesham Woods. We did not see any aliens. (Eldest’s skirt by Melissa at tiny happy – perfect for playing)
I swam in the North Sea. I can confirm that it was, ahem, bracing.
Some of the local services were slightly worrying.
Aldeburgh beach, as ever, did not disappoint.
It was good to get away.

Hullo Missus. Great snaps- all very good places to visit. We are about to test the waters of Loch Fyne. The other Beans have wetsuits. I have my birthday suit- think the sea will be bracing. Will let you know. Cuppa soon? Ax
Ooh, how apt. The word verification is metingle!!!

Goodness, you have been to some of the exact same places that I have in the last week – but that's not surprising when it's where I live!
Well Hello There Ms. Pebble — nice to see a peek of you there. You lucky ducks — playing with the Lockets — what a fun time. Thanks for sharing your pictures — that sand castle looks amazing!

That must be the biggest sandcastle I've ever seen! It looks as if you've had a very refreshing break and visited some lovely seaside places, just the kind of holiday I like too.

Oooo er! that all looks like fun! Bet the cottage was fab… did you play the piano?
I'd admired your castle building expertise over at Lucy's! Looks like you've been having a lovely time.
What an amazing sandcastle…. and what a thoroughly enjoyable looking summer holiday you had 🙂
Lovely photos Emma, they show how much of a good time you all had!
What a wonderful sandcastle too!!
I have to say you are very brave having a dip in the North Sea. 🙂

Great castle! Looks like you've visited some lovely places. Looks a little chilly though 🙁
Steps seem to be the 'in thing' in sandcastle architecture. My daughter and her cousin built a very similar structure with flights of steps all over it.
Lovely shots of Aldeburgh.
Crikey, sandcastles have changed since I last built one!
You've just been to my favourite area in the whole world, lucky things.

Lovely pics! Any finds on the beaches?
Gosh those Suffolk pictures made my heart skip. We have friends near Framlingham who welcome us and the dogs most years, for a couple of weeks in one of our favourite parts of the world. And we haven't been back there since spring 2009 … now I know why I feel as if I've been missing something lately!
We've just bought a house in Aldeburgh so I was there last week too. Mind you, I was rushing around like a thing possessed. I'd rather have been building sand castles. Claire
I'm hoping that perhaps you might take me on holiday with you next time . . .
Oooh Aldeburgh! Bliss. Though you're much braver than I am taking a dip in the North Sea! K x

Gorgeous pics !! You are a brave lady, we went in the North Sea a few weeks ago but wore our wetsuits 🙂

It was lovely to see you all and the sandcastles are getting better every time! The rest of your holiday looks delightful – although I don't think you would have been able to tempt me to swim in the sea!! Lucy xx
A lovely post Emma, thank you. We are off to Aldeburgh at the end of September and you've given me a lovely taster to look forward to. 🙂 xx
You swam in the North Sea? You mad thing you!

Hi Silverpebble..I love your amazing sandcastle, especially the tunnels and steps! The only mole catchers we have here are the ones that deal with sun cancers..lol. It's great to see you get away for a change and enjoy the summer holidays.

Lovely pics of all my favourite places! Is that a smile on your face or a grimace against the cold?!
We recently returned from a trip to the shores of Lake Huron. The water was much warmer than that of the North Sea. I agree. Getting away is good.
Good for you. I swam in Dorset but it wasn't too bad..I think the east coast takes nerves of steel. Your little girls are so cute.
Nice to see you all refreshed and smiley.
Beautiful holiday photographs! Wow, good of you to go into the sea. I haven't been brave enough yet :-)!
I love the sandcastle, but I was totally lost for words when I saw the cat pawprint on the fireplace. Magical.

Beautiful photos and your jewelry is utterly charming! I especially like the sewing necklace although I'm admittedly not much of a sewer.
Wonderful photos – gorgeous pebbles and just love love love Aldeburgh.
I have come shyly to tell you that I am having a giveaway and if I am right in saying you are fond of Jane Austen I would love you to have a chance to win the gifts on offer.

Are you ready for Autumn now?
