…design, secretly commissioned by Kat’s other half for her birthday and involving some of the trickiest 3D enamelling I’ve embarked upon to date. I mixed my own enamel colour to match robins’ eggs as closely as I could. To say that this commission was an honour is a little like saying I quite like cake.
…customer – the Botanic Gardens, Cambridge. I’m completely thrilled to have taken a order from the gorgeous Botanic gardens shop, not least because this garden is one of our very favourite places to visit. In the coming weeks shall be busy making silver pods, seeds and, of course, a beehive necklace to match the ones in their beautiful mixed beds (see above. Eldest is scampering in the TR of the picture).
I’ll also be teaching a workshop at the Botanic Gardens in March (keep a watch out on this page for more details). Excitingly we shall be using historically important plant material from the gardens to make fossil-like pieces. I’m off to source some smallish acorns from the Cambridge Oak in the next week or so. I hope we’ll be able to make fine silver casts of them during the session. Very exciting.
…workshop venue. I’ve added an extra date to my pre-Christmas schedule. I’ll be holding a beginner’s silver clay workshop* at a truly beautiful house in NW London on Saturday 16th November. We’ll be imprinting leaves and dried flowers, casting tiny vintage keys and buttons, using lace to create texture and making 3D silver seedpods. As ever there will be cake, which as we all know is essential fuel for crafting.
All these images are of pieces made by complete beginners at my recent workshops. It seems I have some competition. Oof.
Here ends the silvery news *shuffles papers*.
*You can read more about silver clay and about my workshops here. Drop me a line on emma at minniedog dot co dot uk if you might like to come along.
Kat is very lucky to have an other half who comes up with their own ideas! She's also very lucky to have a piece of Silverpebble jewellery.

I keep dropping hints my husband's way re. a commission but I'm beginning to think I may have to actually spell it out for him, in big letters, in red ink … men can be so dense. But clearly not Kat's other half … what a delight that nest is 🙂
Beautiful Emma! I LOVE the beehive and the little nest is just as sweet as can be. When will you be embarking upon your U.S. teaching tour???
Emma, your work becomes more and more beautiful! The robin's nest is exquisite!
Congratulations to you also on the connection with the Botanic Garden. Lucky and smart folks at the Botanic Garden to connect with you!
Those tiny acorns are superb!

It looks like a beautiful place to visit, love the beehive too! I wish I could go to your silver clay workshop in London so much, but fear I do not have the penny's at the mo, one day! Safxxx

Lovely, lovely robin's nest and the colour of the eggs is perfect.
It seems that your (well-deserved) fame continues to spread! Next stop, Kew Gardens Gift Shop? (I presume they have a gift shop.)
Love the beehive and the students' projects too. 🙂

Such a perfect little robin's nest! I rather like the little acorn earrings too..clever students and clever teacher!
Your work is always so fresh and clean looking, a delight to see. Well done on the commissions.
Hullo Emma! Hope the squirrel impressions are keeping your spirits up. I have never grown flowers before this year, but I shoved some Higgledy Garden seeds all over my veg plot and I LOVE them. Well, mainly LOVED them as they are mostly a goner now. Will definitely be growing more next year and forever after. Anyhoo, my faves because of their utter delicate lovely frondiness and ALSO their bumper bonus wacky wondrous seed pods are….
NIGELLA!
Oh, I miss the Botanical Gardens so! I really must remember to go and stay with my parents in the summer, and visit it, as I only seem to go back in the depths of winter. Hey ho! What a lovely necklace you've made for them.
Gorgeous,
