A new home

IMG_2766

It’s a slightly nerve-wracking, yet exciting day… This is my new place on the internet. My blog will live here, obviously, along with all my workshop listings and coming soon there’ll even be a shiny e-commerce page where you can book a place on one of my workshops with a couple of clicks. This will remove the need for sending me a carrier pigeon called Alan with a bit of paper tied to his leg and waiting for him to return, whilst hoping he doesn’t get distracted by next door’s fat balls. Hurrah!

Not Alan

Soon Alan (who is a metaphor for the three or four emails required to book my workshops previously) will undergo a genteel retirement in Eastbourne with a songthrush called Maud.

I’ll also be sharing thrilling new things here. I plan a series of Making Winter-themed weekends beginning in November, with twig bendy-, cutting patch planny-, hedgerow foragey-, crochet hookish workshops and I’m in the process of seeking lovely locations. The crafting at these Making Winter events will mostly be fuelled by sticky, wintry cakes. They’ll be a slice of British handmade hygge.

I have organised some truly gorgeous guest posts for your reading, viewing and crafting pleasure in the coming weeks…

Julia's shells

Julia of Beside The Sea fame (yes that instagram account, these are her bonny molluscs above) has changed her online name to Humphrey and Grace (keep up!) and she’ll be visiting as my second ever post here on my new site in a few days’ time. She went foraging by the sea. I have had a sneak peak. I nearly cried at the briny beauty. Oh yes.

Oh and my dear friend Val (Dottycookie, whom you can find here and here) has conjured a tutorial for a willow bird feeder. This woman has willow wizardry. She recently made a sheep out of willow with more charisma than Thumper. Oh and she whipped up the tiny pine trees shown above in a matter of moments.

chetna making paneer

Finally I’m thrilled to say that next week I’ll be filming a cake recipe with Chetna Makan from season 5 of the Great British Bakeoff and will be sharing the video here very soon. Chetna’s Youtube channel is wonderful and I shall be making her delicious butter chicken.

I have a slight fear of internet tumbleweeds. I do hope my readers have followed me here. It would be lovely to hear what you think of my new electronic living room. Are you there caller? Would you like a biscuit? Have a look around. I’ve dusted and everything.

I feel as I make a comment here it has to be witty or clever or at least show stoppingly beautiful. Alas it is not. it is just me saying “oh my giddy aunt your living room is glorious”.

    As are you.

I shall be signing up for a thing as soon as Alan retires and you advise of his replacement being in place.

Cor is ever so shiny and new and lovely here. You did promise me a vole though. I mean Alan is all well and good but I was looking forward to the voles. Perhaps in crocheted hats. I hope you will be very happy in your new place in the interweb. XK

    It’s lovely, and very soothing.
Thought you might like to know that there is possibly a glitch with the email sign-up. I tried to subscribe with two different emails, and it wouldn’t accept either of them as a valid email address 🙁 I’m a real (and really quite nice) petson, honest.

Cross-species retirement companionship, eh?! How modern. The site looks fabulous, the guest-post line-up is mouthwatering and I have no doubt you will quite have the opposite of internet tumbleweed on your hands. (What is the opposite of tumble weed? An oak tree?!)

I didn’t know your old home so I’m new to the new and very nice it is too. I shall enjoy looking in on your world. Glad to hear that Alan has found a suitable companion for his dotage. And I do like your little warblers.

Love your electronic living room! You really have a way with words and I love reading your posts. I would love to come on one of your workshops one day. Perhaps once the DIY is done in my house we will have some spare money (that would make a change!)

Looking forward to hearing more from you 🙂
